We checked the odds on 90 CSBattle cases: the best and worst to open

Published 16 October 20267 min read

Every case on CSBattle lists the skins inside it, what each one is worth and the chance of pulling it. That makes it possible to check a case instead of guessing. On 13 October 2026 we read that data from 90 official cases, the 30 most expensive in each of CSBattle's three risk tiers, priced from 170 to 10,000 coins, and ran the numbers. The short version: most cases pay back about 90%, but not all of them. Unlike on Packy.gg, where almost every pack pays back the same, the case you pick on CSBattle does change how much you get back.

Most cases pay back about 90%, some a lot less

For each case we multiplied every skin's value by its chance of dropping and added it up. That gives the average value you get back per opening. Divided by the case price, it gives the return.

  • 55 of the 90 cases return between 89% and 91% of their price.
  • 21 cases return less than 88%, and the worst return under 87%.
  • The best case in our check returns 91.2%, the worst 85.7%.

That gap matters more than it looks. Open 1,000 coins' worth of the best case and you lose about 88 coins on average. Do the same on the worst case and you lose about 143. Same wager, more than 60% more lost.

For comparison, almost every pack on Packy.gg pays back the same; see our check of all 216 Packy.gg packs.

The cases that pay back the most

Look inside the top six and they are all the same thing: a coin flip. Each holds exactly two items, at 50% each. One is a skin worth about 1.8 times the case, the other is worth next to nothing.

  • Easy D (5,000): 50% for an AWP Dragon Lore (Minimal Wear) worth 9,107.34 coins, 50% for a pin worth 4.10.
  • Seamen (850): 50% for an M4A4 Poseidon (Factory New) worth 1,549.47, 50% for a sticker worth 0.19.
  • Light it Up (420): 50% for a Desert Eagle Blaze (Factory New) worth 762.34, 50% for a sticker worth 0.05.
CSBattle Easy D case: 50% AWP Dragon Lore, 50% pin
Easy D on CSBattle: 5,000 coins for a coin flip between an AWP Dragon Lore worth 9,107.34 and a pin worth 4.10.

If you want the best return and do not mind an all-or-nothing result, these are where it is.

The cases that pay back the least

The seven worst-returning cases of the 90 checked on 13 October 2026
CasePrice (coins)Risk tierReturn
Race to Death1,250High85.7%
Blue or Red?2,000Medium86.4%

Deadly Bite1,600Low86.7%

God Of Battles10,000Medium87.0%

Race to Death is the worst we found. It shows knives and gloves worth up to 23,623 coins, but 81% of openings give a CS:GO Graffiti Box worth 0.91.

What Low, Medium and High risk mean

CSBattle gives every case a risk score from 0 to 100 and sorts cases into three tiers. Here is what the tiers looked like in our check:

CSBattle risk tiers across the 90 cases checked, one opening at a time
Risk tierRisk scoreChance a pull beats the case priceTypical pull, as % of case priceAverage return
Low4–4943%46%89.3%
Medium51–7527%26%88.9%
High77–9814%10%89.1%

"Typical pull" is the median: half of your openings land on that value or below it.

Two takeaways. The average return is about the same in every tier, so a higher risk score does not mean better odds, only a bumpier ride. And the risk score roughly tracks your chance of losing: Controller, the riskiest case in our check at 98, beats its price only 2% of the time.

One catch: "Low risk" is not always a soft landing. The coin-flip cases above sit in the Low tier, and half of their openings return almost nothing.

The wildest cases on CSBattle

  • Controller (8,100). A 1 in 50 chance at a Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore (Minimal Wear) worth 248,746.95 coins. The other 98% of the time you pull a skin worth 2,200 to 2,550, about a quarter to a third of the price.
  • Marvel (2,600). A 1 in 1,000 shot at a Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore (Minimal Wear) worth 214,392.84, which is 82 times the price. It is still one of the best-paying cases at 90.7%, but 90% of openings give an XM1014 worth 3.99.
  • Bad and Boujee (9,710). A 1 in 10,000 chance at a Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore (Factory New) worth 415,385.91 coins, the most valuable item we found.
  • Ocean (1,738). A 1 in 100,000 chance at a Titan (Holo) Katowice 2014 sticker worth 150,049.93, which is 86 times the price, the biggest multiplier in our check.
  • God Of Battles (10,000). The most expensive case on the site, with a 1 in 500 shot at a Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore (Minimal Wear). It pays back 87.0%, which puts it in the bottom ten.

The cases that win most often

Three Low risk cases beat their price on 62.5% of openings: Summer (2,250), Tornado (324.90) and Voltage (223.60). Their typical pull is worth about 125–130% of the price.

The catch is the same as always: they win often but win small. The chance to double your money on each is 3.1%, and the losing openings pay for the rest.

How to use this

  • Climbing the BANDITS leaderboard? Pick a high-return case. Every coin you open counts the same on the board, but how much you lose along the way depends on the case. The high-return cases above let the same budget go further.
  • Skip the bottom of the list. There is no upside to an 86% case that a 90% case at the same price does not also give you.
  • Pick the risk tier for the ride you want, not because you think it has better odds. The average return is about the same in all three.
  • Open the case page before you buy. Look at the most likely item, not only the top item. That is what most of your openings will give you.

With code BANDITS, every wager counts on the 500 coin bi-weekly BANDITS leaderboard. The code does not change any case's odds. Sign in through csbattle.com/r/bandits and the code is applied as part of signing up; the prizes and payout steps are on the CSBattle rewards page.

How we did it

On 13 October 2026 we read the item list, item values and odds from the case pages of 90 official CSBattle cases. A case's expected value is the sum of each item's value times its chance. We checked that every case's odds add up to exactly 100%. They all do.

Limits: CSBattle has 357 official cases, and we checked the 30 most expensive in each risk tier (30 of the 40 Low risk cases, 30 of 140 Medium and 30 of 177 High). Cheaper cases and community-made cases are not included. Values are in CSBattle coins as listed on the case page. Cases, odds and values change, so the case page is always the final word.
